Description
Habanero Red chilli frog
"Habanero Red (Capsicum chinense) is one of the hottest pepper varieties, scoring a whopping 350,000 points on the Scoville scale, far exceeding the 8,000 points of the jalapeño pepper.
This chilli that we offer in our store is easy to grow, requiring only a warm, bright location and fertile soil. The plant has a bushy shape, grows to 90-100 cm in height and is adorned with decorative, dark green, large leaves. The fruits start out green but change to an intense red colour when ripe.
They vary in shape from blocky to elongated and have a shiny surface. These small peppers, measuring 4-6 cm, are an attractive addition to the balcony or garden. When dried and ground, they become an extremely hot spice, perfect for meat, marinades or warming sauces.
To grow 'Habanero Red' chilli, seeds should be sown in early spring indoors, in a greenhouse or in a heated growing space. The minimum temperature for germination and plant growth is 17°C, best above 25°C. This heat-loving chilli thrives best in sunny locations in well-drained, humus-rich soil or in pots with vegetable and herb soil.
The fruits are ready to harvest approximately 100 days after sowing.
Note: Habanero chilli seeds should be sown with gloves and hands should be washed thoroughly immediately afterwards.
