How far away should the lamp be placed
Because the light needs of plants can vary significantly depending on the species, we have prepared some general guidelines for optimal placement of your Grolight. These guidelines are designed to help you get the maximum benefit from your lighting
Sprouts and small plants: For newly germinated seeds and small plants, a distance of about 60-75 cm (24-30 inches) is recommended. This ensures sufficient light coverage without exposing the plants to too much heat or light intensity, which can damage the delicate plants.
Adult plants: As plants grow and become more robust, the lamp can be moved closer, typically between 30-60 cm (12-24 inches) depending on the light needs of the plant. Adult plants, especially those that are flowering or bearing fruit, may benefit from more intense light to promote photosynthesis and healthy growth.
Special needs: Some plants, especially those that require high light intensity (like certain types of succulents or orchids), can tolerate being closer to the light, while shade-tolerant plants should be placed further away to avoid overexposure.
Plant type | Recommended distance to light |
---|---|
Sprout/small plants | 60-75 cm |
Adult plants | 30-60 cm |
Plants with special needs | Depends on the light needs of the plant |
It is essential to be aware of the specific species of plants you are growing, as our guide is primarily a general guide that can be applied in most scenarios. However, there are many variables that may require further customisation, especially if your plant does not fit within the general guidelines we have provided.
