Sweet Pickle Pepper, a versatile and colourful pepper variety perfect for pots and open fields. These peppers add a touch of colour and flavour to any garden.

Description

Sweet Pickle Pepper is a special pepper variety that is classified as a tall-growing variety. This variety is suitable for growing in greenhouses, open fields and pots. The tall plants require support as they can produce many small, conical, and brightly coloured fruits that range in colour from yellow to orange and red, adding both culinary and decorative value to your garden.
At plantelys we have extensive experience with the different types of paprika and what kind of light is needed for your fruits to grow, you can find more here about the right light you need

Growing instructions for Sweet Pickle Pepper:

  • Sowing depth: 0.5 cm
  • Sowing in greenhouses: March - April
  • Setting plants outdoors: May
  • Distance: 70-80 x 40-60 cm
  • Autumn period: July - October

For optimal growth, seeds should be sown in March, with a germination time of approximately 5-7 days at 20...25°C. After germination, the temperature is reduced to 20...22°C during the day and 18...20°C at night. When the first true leaves develop, the plants are transplanted deeper to promote stronger root development. After a week, complex fertiliser is added and the plants are transplanted once more when they are large enough. Before planting outdoors, the plants should be hardened off for 5-7 days. The plants are transplanted when the soil temperature is at least 15°C and the daytime temperature is above 10°C.

Tall varieties should be supported and tied up while removing excess side shoots to improve yield. Flowering plants should be shaken lightly on sunny mornings to encourage pollination. Water the plants in the morning with lukewarm water. When the lower cluster starts to ripen, remove the lower leaves and in early August, prune the tops of the plant to encourage the last fruits to ripen. Green fruits should be harvested before cold weather and ripen indoors.
