Description
Hot Pepper 'Yvona' (Capsicum annuum)
'Yvona' is perfect for those who want a plant that is both beautiful to look at and useful in the kitchen. Recommended for growing on balconies, this pepper plant develops into a small, compact shrub that adorns any outdoor space. The fruits, which are conical, short and bright with a dark red, shiny surface, grow upwards from the stems and form eye-catching clusters.
Cultivation guide: Start sowing seeds in warming beds, indoor greenhouses or directly into pots in early spring. Once the plants have developed true leaves, thin them out and move them to separate containers. Once the plants have hardened off and weather permitting, they can be moved to a sunny spot on the balcony or windowsill. 'Yvona' prefers a well-drained, nutrient-rich and humus-filled soil and thrives in plenty of sunlight. These peppers develop their deepest colour during the summer and are ready to harvest from July, when they can add a hot kick to various dishes.
