Either under LED grow lights, allowing it to be placed anywhere from the darkest basement to the brightest living room.

Grow light for chilli plants

LED grow lights allow you to grow your plants all year round, but there are several different artificial light sources, so why choose LED?

LED grow lights protect your plants as they produce less heat than sodium lamps and halogen bulbs, among others. Although we have repeatedly pointed out that heat is important for chilli plants, the amount of heat that comes out of a traditional bulb is very harmful to the plant, especially when they are so close to each other. On top of that, LED grow lights don't use a lot of power, so your electricity bill won't hurt your wallet.

With LED grow lights, your plants can achieve the most optimal growth without getting burnt leaves. This way, your plants will grow healthily and efficiently!
Growing chilli plants is not as challenging as you might think!

How much light should my chilies have?

It is our recommendation that if you want to grow these plants indoors with artificial light, they should not be placed in a window as the sunlight will dry them out too quickly.
Furthermore, if a bright and good light is chosen, the extra light from the sun will not be necessary.
With chilli plants, you should always choose full-spectrum light, as it favours both the plant's growth andg flower arrangement. If a blue or pink light is chosen, the yield at harvest will be significantly lower.

  • Recommended brightness: min. 350 up to 600 μmol/s*m²
  • Max hours of light per day: 18 hours
  • Recommended DLI is: 30-40
  • Recommended lamp for growing plants: QB 100W (40-60 cm height)

LED grow lights are ideal for growing chilli plants as LED grow lights provide exactly the amount and type of light your plants need. There are many other alternatives that provide broad-spectrum light, many of which are unnecessary for plant growth. As a result, they produce a large amount of energy that doesn't benefit your electricity bill or your plants.

Financial benefits - With LED grow lights, you can save up to 90% on power consumption compared to other alternatives such as fluorescent tubes and incandescent/halogen bulbs. LED grow lights have a significantly longer lifespan than incandescent and fluorescent bulbs.

The long lifespan is one of the benefits that make it more worthwhile to purchase LED grow lights over other alternatives such as fluorescent, halogen and sodium lamps, etc. Many of these alternatives are available cheaper, but the cost of the energy consumption of these lamps quickly exceeds the purchase price of an LED grow light, the cheap plant lights, as they have very high waste and heat emission.

This is especially expensive when electricity prices are as high as they are nowadays. LED grow lights therefore ensure that your chilli plant has the most ideal living conditions, but also ensure that you don't have to suffer a financial loss on products that have a short lifespan and high power consumption.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Chilli plants require a lot of light to thrive, ideally between 14-16 hours of light per day. The use of LED grow lights can help fulfil these needs, especially during the winter months or in areas with limited natural sunlight.

The best grow light depends on your specific growing needs, but LED grow lights are often favoured for their energy efficiency, longevity, and ability to deliver a broad spectrum of light necessary for plant growth and flowering.

To care for a chilli plant, make sure to give it plenty of light (14-16 hours a day with grow lights if needed), water it regularly but allow the soil to dry out between waterings, and apply a well-balanced nutrient mix every two to four weeks to support growth and fruit development.

To use grow lights effectively, place them about 20-40 cm above your plants to ensure even light distribution and set them to shine for 14-16 hours a day to mimic natural sunlight. Adjust the height as your plants grow to avoid heat damage and optimise light absorption.
